The Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts (SADA) hosted a seminar/workshop project on the current interplay between the film and game world. A group of internationally distinguished scholars, researchers and professionals provided the basis for interaction with a special focus on narrative, design/world building and interactivity (main focus on interactive documentaries). In workshops by educators and students approached those topics together in practice. The Training the Trainers activity supported by CILECT.
The author and script consultant Linda Aronson introduced the participants to nonlinear narratives. The part on interactivity was presented by Sarah Wolozin (head of the Open Documentary Lab at MIT) and Katerina Cizek (documentary filmmaker, known for her work on the project Highrise). Alex McDowell introduced the audience to design and world building methods through a practical example, the RILAO project/workshop.
Pia Tikka gave a presentation from “From Enactive Cinema to Bergman in the brain” starting first with an overview of neurocinematic research conducted at her NeuroCine team in collaboration with the researchers at the Department of Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering (NBE) at the Aalto School of Science [Photo by Silvia Rasheva], and then focusing on the currently on-going artistic research project Enactive avatar for feature films.
