“Good Storytelling is Designing Clarity”

Tuesday, May 27th, 2014

The Dots Post review by Fiona Jongejans features the DESIS Philosophy Talk #2.2: Storytelling & Social innovation that was also contributed to by the Crucible Studio director Mika ‘Lumi’ Tuomola & associated researcher (City Sets), professor Marja Seliger:

“Storytelling is when information becomes an experience, engaging story listeners in a specific situation. In this sense, storytelling can be seen as a method of design.” “Mika Tuomola argues that real stories… contain static emotion: the story shines light upon a situation from different perspectives, allowing the story listener to form a personal opinion. The purpose of such stories is to provide as much clarity as possible about a situation…. It allows the audience to create their own perspective, leaving room for peoples true feelings and intuition to interact with the story.”
