Thursday, November 10th, 2011

The City Sets education, research and urban media art project has officially been selected as a part of the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 programme. The project started as a multidisciplinary education and research development project of the Aalto University Schools of Art and Design and Technology, the Departments of Media and Architecture, in 2010. In 2012, the project will present the international City Sets seminar on Urban Visual Ethnography and Media Art (Media Centre Lume, August 23-24/5), the Aalto University level course and workshop on the subject area, as well as three new urban media art works by Heidi Tikka, Andy Best, Merja Puustinen, Jaakko Pesonen and Antti Tenetz. The media art works will be shown throughout the year in various Helsinki exhibits, as well as abroad (Berlin, Budapest, Paris & London are under planning). The project is led by senior researcher Marja Seliger and Crucible Studio’s director Mika ‘Lumi’ Tuomola at the the Department of Media, Aalto University School of Art and Design.
